Title: Each
activity is good in its season!
Brief Description :
How about exchanging visits to our
countries and choosing outdoor activities suitable for each season?
Every season has its beauty and brings its joy, and every activity is good in
its season. Let’s discover them!
Languages: English
Pupils age range: 9-12 years old
Number of pupils involved: 10 and more in each team
Curricular areas involved: Foreign Languages, PE, Nature
Studies, Health Studies, Geography
Tools: e-mail, Forum, Project Diary, Twinspace, PPP,
Photopeach, Padlet, etc
Goals:
- gain information about children from other parts of Europe including their favourite outdoor activities in different seasons
- improve children’s knowledge about weather and seasons in general and create a positive attitude towards the healthy way of life
- develop children’s communicating skills and cross-cultural awareness
- develop children’s IСT skills
- develop and present children’s talents via pictures and photos
Work process:
Step1. Short introduction of the country. Students also introduce their
teammates and school to project partners, create a common team presentation or
video.( November – December 2014)
Step 2. Teams describe
seasons in their countries and some special celebrations and illustrate them
with photos and pictures.(January-mid February 2015)
Step 3. Each team decides what most popular outdoor
activities for each season to choose and presents them to the partners using
different ICT and works of art (photos and/or pictures). Children are also encouraged to find out some online
materials (song, poems, jokes, etc.) about season activities. (mid February - March 2015)
Step 4. Teams share their contributions with the
partners, discuss them in the groups and compare the outdoor activities and weather conditions in different
countries. They may introduce some similarities or differences that impressed
them most.( April 2015)
Step5: Teams suggest
some tips for healthy outdoor activities in all seasons creating videos,
presentations, slideshows, quizzes, etc.( May 2015)
Expected
outcomes:
Children will develop and enrich their
collaboration skills and deepen their positive attitude to work with peers.
They will learn to accept diversities in traditions and ways of life and make
their personal discoveries.
The
participants will virtually travel to other countries, meet their people, make
friends and enjoy the nature.
They will improve
their language skills: reading, speaking, listening and writing as well.
The final
result will be a presentation of each participating team and the display of
children’s works of art.
